What Happens Next?
Here's how our utility assistance review process works.
Initial Review
Within 2-3 business days: Our team will review your application to ensure all required information is included.
If we need additional documentation or information, we'll contact you by phone to let you know what's needed.
Board Approval Process
Complete applications are presented to our volunteer board of directors, who consider:
- • Financial need and household circumstances
- • Shutoff notice urgency (priority given to immediate shutoffs)
- • Previous assistance history
- • Available funding in our utility assistance budget
- • Payment arrangements attempted with utility company
Decision & Payment
Within 5-7 business days: You'll be contacted with the board's decision.
If approved: Payment is sent directly to your utility company. You'll receive a confirmation call when payment has been made.
If denied: We'll explain the reason and may suggest other resources that could help with your utility bill.
Important Reminders
While You Wait
- Continue to work with your utility company on payment arrangements
- Keep your shutoff notice and any communication from the utility company
- Contact us immediately if your shutoff date changes
Urgent Situations
If you receive a shutoff notice while your application is pending, please call us immediately at (918) 396-1137. We may be able to expedite your request.
Additional Documentation
If we need additional information to process your application, we'll call you promptly. Having your utility bill and income documentation ready will help speed up the process.
